Paiheng is a CS Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland’s Computational Linguistics and Information Processing lab, advised by Wei Ai. His research interests are Natural Language Processing and Computational Social Science. He is interested in understanding human communications in various context by developing NLP tools that are explainable and consider causality and fairness issues. Currently, he works on identifying equity-centered teaching practices in the classroom and effective messaging strategies for public health on social media. In the past, he has interned at Adobe Research. Previously, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with an M.S.E in Computer Science, where he worked with Mark Dredze at the Center for Language and Speech Processing.
